In case of services certification the period of certificate validity is established by a certification body taking into account the service provider capacities to ensure stability of service characteristics confirmed in the course of certification. The maximum certificate validity period is three (3) years.

In case of automotive vehicles' certification the period of certificate validity is established by a certification body taking into account stability of characteristics confirmed in the course of certification, validity of regulatory documents for products and validity of quality system certification (if provided for by certification scheme). The maximum certificate validity period is four (4) years.

In case of batch certification the certificate validity period is not established. A certificate is valid during the product validity period or batch validity period.

The inspection control shall be carried out during the whole period of certificate validity as frequently as determined by certification authorities but not more frequently than once a year (at least once a year for services) if such inspection control is provided for by certification scheme. The inspection control is carried out in the form of periodic unscheduled inspections. Such inspection control includes tests of product samples and other inspections necessary for confirmation that products or services show a continued conformance with the established requirements confirmed at the time of certification.

The basic materials subject to analyse in the course of the inspection control include:

• Quantity and nature of defects under claims received from customers with respect to certified products or services (if any)
• Reports of periodic tests carried out by the manufacturer
• Previous inspection materials
• Amendments to engineering and design documentation, as well as changes of manufacturing conditions
• Manufacturing stability

Negative results of an inspection control may constitute a ground for certificate suspension or cancellation.
